Beyond The Wall 2025

Embark on the journey "Beyond the Wall." Recognized as a 2024 Triathlon Ireland shortlisted race of the year, this sprint-distance event—hosted by Down Triathlon Club—is set against the breathtaking backdrop of Strangford Lough as part of the Triathlon Ireland National Series.

Swim
The swim will take place in Strangford Bay located at the bottom of the Castle Ward Estate. Whilst it will be a sea swim the bay is well protected. Wetsuits must be worn.
We are delighted to have Strangford Sailing Club on board as part of our water safety team.
Bike
The Cycle course is to the West of Castle Ward Estate toward Downpatrick. Athletes will be given the opportunity to take in the scenic countryside between Strangford and Downpatrick.
This is a 10km out and 10km back course with a diversion onto Audleystown Road on the approach back to transition. The cycle course is on a rolling tarmac surface.
The bike route will start and end in Castle Ward Estate with the intermediate section taking part on nominally closed roads with Police and Race Marshalls in place.
Run
The Run course will use Castle Ward Estate's trails which are mainly gravel, with a small section of grass (100m) and tarmac (80m). Athletes will be given the opportunity to take in the stunning scenic views of Castle Ward Estate and Strangford Lough.
The run course will be free from vehicles and will be marshalled throughout the course. There will be a water station located at 1.7km & 2.2km as you pass Audleystown Castle.
