Our stance on Mental Health & Wellbeing

Down Triathlon Club is dedicated to fostering the well-being of its members, both physically and mentally. Currently, we offer a consistent schedule of coached training sessions, personalised training plans, and strength and conditioning sessions. Recognising the increasing importance of mental health, we aspire to enhance our support in this aspect.

To address mental health and well-being comprehensively, we are embarking on a program to train Mental Health & First Aid Champions. These individuals have volunteered to serve as advocates for mental health within the Club, contributing to a supportive and empathetic environment.

In recent times, the spotlight on mental health and well-being has intensified. Statistics reveal that a significant portion of the population in Northern Ireland (1 in 5) struggles with mental health issues, encompassing anxiety, stress, low moods, depression, and, in some cases, suicidal thoughts. To further aid our members, we have established a dedicated space on our website. This area serves as a resource hub for those seeking guidance on mental health and well-being. It includes links to insightful articles by athletes who leverage sports and recreation as coping mechanisms.

The webpage will undergo continuous updates, so we encourage you to revisit it for ongoing support.
